Week 4 blog

The constructivist/constructionist idea focuses on the learners process of collaborative and constructed or created representations of comprehension.  This week they studied the strategy of generating and testing hypotheses compared to the constructivist/constructionist view in the classroom.  Both teach active hands on approach to learning.  Just like my blog in our Walden page, the resources and principles of constructivist/constructionist use technology.  Using technology in the classroom to promote problem-based, project-based, and inquiry-based approaches is a great thing.  Students have a different avenue to help learn.
My teaching partner has showed me some things in Google Docs, and I love using this now. This allows me to create a project and assign certain students to it. I can see when they are on working on it, and they can work together hands on or from home or the library. It is a great way to get a group inquiry about a subject.

  1. Using Technology in the classroom is undoubtedly one of the greatest things we can do for our students in this day-and-age. It gives our students the ability to take advantage and to further their understanding of a topic using resources they are most efficient with. No matter what the lesson be, incorporating technology creates automatic interest, which in turn, allows for a much higher level of learning. Using online resources such as the ones found in "Google Docs" can work so many angles of teaching, and perhaps one of the best being their ability to reinforce learning while in the comfort of their own homes!

  2. As technology is used more in the classroom, I could imagine more engaging and creative ways is soon to come. As teachers we have to continue to grow in the upcoming age of technology in the classroom to engage and enhance our students' learning.

  3. Mr. Brewer,
I am unfamiliar with that program, Google Docs, but I definitely will look into that and hopefully be able to incorporate that into my classroom as well. The more hands on and real life the lesson the better for children.
