Reflection, My Personal Theory of Learning

Wow, what can I say?  This was an exciting course.  I do believe that my personal theory of learning from week one was right on the nose.  I still teach by that theory.  Everything in it just clicks with my teaching style?  Is it the correct style? I have still yet to find out.
I surely am going to use many of technology tools I have learned about.  I love using technology and when I get a chance to use it I will.  I do not always get a chance to use technology, but I am definitely going to use voice thread.  That is an awesome tool.  I do not know exactly yet how I am going to use it, but it surely will be implemented by christmas break.
Another tool I am going to use more of is PowerPoint.  It is one of the tools that I have at my finger tips, but yet I hardly bring that aboard.  The students are in the process now of creating a PowerPoint presentation to show their parents at parent teacher conferences.  I will get feedback afterwards to see if this is something I may want to implement for every conference.
The two goals I would like to implement for my instructional practice is simple.  Number one - take my time.  Do not force the students with technology and technology.  If it is not working, drop it and move on.  Just because it is technology, it may not work for my class.  This is an easy one to fulfill and I hope by the end of this year and start of next year I will have an arsenal of lesson plans that incorporate technology well.  Goal number 2- Make sure I keep pushing for technology.  This one is not as easy to do as goal 1.  I can not control what the school can purchase and not purchase.  I will just continue to educate our administration on new and improved technologies that can help in the classroom.  Continue this year after year and hope that maybe I can get through to them and receive some eventually.

Thanks again for a wonderful class,

Joe Brewer
