Application 3 Blog:
Explain how instructional strategies correlate with the principles of cognitive learning theory.
These strategies that I read about this week help students explore and make connections to what they already know.  Prior knowledge of a subject helps students elaborate more knowledge.  Concept mapping is just one of the fun ways that the strategies go hand in hand with the cognitive learning theory.  Visualizing the material and also reading the material gives the students more than one way to store and recall the information.  It helps store the information in their long-term memory.

Until Next time, keep it real homies!

  1. I agree. I think that concept maps are a great way for children to visualize the connection between subtopics and a great way for them to organize their own personal thoughts.

  2. I like using them as much as possible in my classroom. They work really well with 5th graders
