week 6 BLOG GAME PLAN

What have you learned so far that you can apply in your instructional practice?

I have learned so far that my students really do love working with technology and blogging is their favorite.  I can use an article about something in the news and they can pick it apart, start coming up with questions on how they can help fix the problem.  They love going on and bouncing ideas off one another.  I was very surprised that everyone whole heartily participates.

What goals are you still working toward?

I still think the students need a little more help modeling creative and innovative thinking other than in their blogs.  I started to go away from the blog and start using a wiki and it seems to be a slow start to it.

Based on the NETS-T, what new learning goals will you set for yourself?
I think promoting student reflection using collaborative tools to reveal and clarify students' conceptual understanding and thinking, planning, and creative processes will be my next step in my game plan.
If you are not ready to set new learning goals, how will you extend what you have learned so far?

Well I just started working with the WIKI in place of the Blog, so I need to give it time to sink in and produce.

What learning approaches will you try next time to improve your learning?
That all will depend on how far the students come along.  I would like to have them to start using the innovativeness and creativity to model more than just on the blog.  Start using it more and more in everyday class.

Keep it real homies!!!!

  1. I was excited that my students also enjoyed blogging about current events as well. Some of them really got into it and found they had a lot to say.

  2. It is amazing how much the students can write about when you put a computer and blogging site in front of them. I love to see them get excited about something that involves school especially when it comes to math in my class. It is hard to get them excited about some of the topics and I think that blogging or a WIKI may help with those.

  3. Hi Joe,
Getting students to be more creative and innovative is a challenge--some have a hard time "think outside the box" and want step-by-step directions every step of the way.
I find that collaborative contexts encourage creativity--as students bounce ideas off of each other, they get new ideas.
Wikis allow for a lot of creativity---it should be interesting to see how their understanding develops in the context of the wiki.

    Thanks for sharing.
